Open-Type IPX5 IPX6 Water Jet Test Equipment – BND-IPX56A
IPX5 and IPX6 tests evaluate the resistance of products to water jets applied from different directions.
During testing, the operator directs the specified handheld nozzle toward the specimen while the turntable rotates to support uniform exposure. The open-type configuration is particularly suitable for large, fixed or irregularly shaped specimens that may not be convenient to test in an enclosed chamber.

How the Test Is Performed
1. Select the Test Level
Select IPX5 or IPX6 according to the applicable standard or test requirement.
2. Prepare the Specimen and Nozzle
Install the 6.3 mm nozzle for IPX5 or the 12.5 mm nozzle for IPX6. Place the specimen securely on the rotating table and connect the specimen power supply when energized testing is required.
3. Adjust the Flow Rate and Test Time
Start the water supply system and adjust the flow rate to the specified value. Set the test duration according to the specimen surface area and applicable test requirements.
4. Perform the Water Jet Test
Keep the nozzle approximately 2.5–3.0 m from the specimen and apply the water jet from all practical directions while the specimen rotates.
5. Check the Test Result
After the test, inspect the specimen for water ingress and assess the result according to the applicable product standard.
Installation Requirements
As an open-type water jet test equipment, the BND-IPX56A should be installed in a suitable waterproof testing area.
The installation site should provide:
- Adequate floor drainage
- Protection against water splash
- A stable water supply
- Sufficient operating space for the handheld nozzle
- Appropriate electrical supply
- A level floor capable of supporting the equipment and water tank
The required installation area depends on the specimen dimensions, nozzle distance, and water tank arrangement.
Is This the Right Configuration?
The BND-IPX56A is suitable when:
- Manual nozzle operation is acceptable.
- The laboratory has a dedicated splash and drainage area.
- Different specimen sizes need to be tested.
- The user requires both IPX5 and IPX6 testing.
- A rotating specimen table and independent water supply are required.
An enclosed IPX5/IPX6 chamber may be more suitable when automatic nozzle movement, better water containment, or unattended testing is required.
If the laboratory already has a suitable pump, water tank, flow control, and testing area, an IPX5/IPX6 nozzle set may be sufficient.
Custom Configurations
BONAD can adapt the equipment to different specimen and installation requirements. Available options may include:
- Different test table diameters.
- Higher specimen load capacity.
- Customized specimen power supply.
- Alternative main power supply.
- Modified water tank capacity.
- Customized hose length and nozzle arrangement.
- Additional flow or pressure monitoring.
- Enclosed or automatically controlled configurations.
Please provide the specimen dimensions, weight, required IP level, local power supply, and installation conditions when requesting a customized solution.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between IPX5 and IPX6 testing?
IPX5 uses a 6.3 mm nozzle with a water flow of 12.5 L/min. IPX6 uses a larger 12.5 mm nozzle with a water flow of 100 L/min, producing a much stronger water jet.
Is the BND-IPX56A an enclosed test chamber?
No. It is open-type IPX5/IPX6 water jet test equipment with handheld nozzles. It should be used in a dedicated area with suitable splash protection and drainage.
Can the specimen be powered during testing?
Yes. The test table includes an AC 220 V specimen power supply. The required voltage, current, and operating mode should be confirmed before ordering.
Does the nozzle move automatically?
No. The nozzle is operated manually, while the specimen rotates on the test table. An enclosed automatic chamber is available for applications requiring fixed or automatically controlled nozzle movement.
Can the equipment be customized?
Yes. The water tank, test table, specimen power supply, electrical supply, and other parts of the system can be configured according to the specimen and testing requirements.
What warranty and technical support are provided?
The standard warranty period is one year. BONAD also provides ongoing technical support for equipment installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Are CE documentation and calibration certificates available?
Yes. CE documentation and third-party calibration certificates are available according to order requirements. Certificate scope, issuing organization and related costs should be confirmed before ordering.
