Testing Principles
Abrasion Resistance (ASTM D4966/ISO 12947)
A circular fabric specimen mounted on the holder rubs against standard abrasive fabric in a Lissajous motion under controlled pressure. Abrasion resistance is determined by the number of cycles until fabric failure (e.g., thread breakage or hole formation).
Pilling Resistance (ASTM D4970/ISO 12945)
Specimens rub against each other in a Lissajous pattern under defined load. Post-test, surface changes (pilling/fuzzing) are visually compared against standards to assign a pilling grade.
