IP (INGRESS PROTECTION) Protection Rating System
Drafted by IEC (International Electrotechnical Communications), electrical appliances are classified according to their characteristics of dust and moisture resistance. The foreign objects referred to here include tools, human fingers, etc., which are not accessible to the live parts of the appliance to avoid electric shock. It is composed of two numbers. The first number indicates the level of dust prevention and prevention of foreign objects intrusion. The second number indicates the degree of protection against humidity and water intrusion. The higher the number, the higher the degree of protection.
Digital protection scope description:
0 No protection No special protection for people or things outside
1 Prevent intrusion of solid foreign objects with a diameter greater than 50mm Prevent humans (such as the palm of the hand) from accidentally touching parts inside the appliance to prevent intrusion of foreign objects with larger dimensions (diameter greater than 50mm)
2 Prevent intrusion of solid foreign objects with a diameter greater than 12mm Prevent human fingers from touching the parts inside the appliance, preventing intrusion of foreign objects of medium size (diameter greater than 12.5mm)
3 Prevent intrusion of solid objects larger than 2.5 mm in diameter Prevent tools, wires and similar small foreign objects of diameters or thickness greater than 2.5 mm from intruding into contact with parts inside the appliance
4 Prevent intrusion of solid objects larger than 1.0mm in diameter Prevent tools, wires and similar small foreign objects of diameter or thickness greater than 1.0mm from intruding into contact with parts inside the appliance
5 Prevent foreign objects and dust from completely invading foreign objects. Although it cannot completely prevent dust intrusion, the amount of dust intrusion will not affect the normal operation of electrical appliances.
6 Prevent foreign objects and dust from completely intruding foreign objects and dust
The degree of protection referred to by the second marked feature number (number)
Digital Protection Range Description
0 No protection No special protection against water or moisture
1 Prevent water intrusion Water drops that fall vertically (such as condensate) will not cause damage to the appliance
2 When tilted at 15 degrees, it can still prevent water intrusion. When the appliance is tilted from vertical to 15 degrees, it will not cause damage to the appliance.
3 to prevent the intrusion of sprayed water to prevent rain or to prevent water from intruding into the appliance with a vertical angle of less than 60 degrees to cause damage
4 to prevent the intrusion of splashing water to prevent water from splashing in all directions and causing damage
5 to prevent the intrusion of jetted water to prevent water injecting from nozzles in all directions from invading the appliance and causing damage
6 Prevent large waves from invading Electrical appliances installed on the deck can prevent damage caused by large waves
7 Prevent water intrusion when immersed in water For a certain period of time when the appliance is immersed in water or the water pressure is below a certain standard, it can be ensured that it will not be damaged due to immersion in water.
8 Prevent water from intruding when sunk. Appliances sink indefinitely under the specified water pressure, ensuring no damage due to flooding.
